I'm flying home from hawaii to Iowa (north midwest of U.S., right below Minnesota which is on the border of canada) for about 2 weeks, gonna enjoy the barren snowy landscape, see friends, see family, and visit my favorite restaurant in the world, Sum Hing, home town chinese restaurant that I have not been able to top anywhere else I've gone. So I'm actually judging part of my experience on how much money I waste on chinese food...the more the better.

Have a Computer lan going on with my old friends during winter break at some point and ill track down a few of my other friends on the other days, family obviously about 23-27 probably for xmas, then shortly after that be heading back for hawaii.

Anyone else?

Multiwinia

This is a sequel to the Independent game available on steam "Darwinia". This game is hard to actually call it a sequel though, because it is mainly skrimish/online gameplay, but is extremely fun and for anyone who doesnt know, its made by the same people who made the legendary game "Uplink" (introversion). No campaign, but I don't think it really needs one. Story goes as follows:

Darwinia:
A scientist created an artificial life form that lives in a virtual world in a computer named "Darwinia" The creatures were peaceful and innocent. They created a structure within their world to try and communicate with "god" and ended up downloading a few e-mails into their world, one which contained a virus. The virus exploded from the email and infected the world, destroying many many darwinians in the process. You enter as someone who just accidentally found it on the internet, and end up helping the scientist fight back the plague of the virus and reclaim darwinia for the darwinians.

This game is loads of fun, even if there is only a campaign (no skirmish or anything). And how they set up the virtual world of darwinia is really cool. First, it looks kinda like a planet but is set up inside-out, where the inhabittants live on the inner part of the sphere, and their sun is in the middle of the planet. The sun is actually made up of millions of darwinian souls, which end up falling back down to the planet at a key point, called the soul repository, where darwinians are rebirthed into the world. From there, every location you fight on has some point to the world, and gives you a pretty cool idea of how the world works. Anyways, check this out on steam (or their website http://www.introversion.co.uk/ ), its only like 5-10$

Multiwinia:
This takes place after the initial viral infection defeat. Now the darwinians have become tainted by the touch of war and corruption ensues on the darwinians. Now there are different tribes, and they are all at war with each other.

The story of this is basically summed up on what i told you above, and the gameplay is really really great (if you liked darwinia) its comparable to a simple strategy game, where theres not tons of micro managing or anything, but you mainly smash forces against each other, but theres still strategy involved to win. You can play in 6 different modes, offline against a cpu, or online against people. I haven't played it online yet (afraid my butt will be kicked, lol) but it is really fun. To spice up the gameplay there are crates that fall down from the sky which contain different power ups and attacks, and sometimes something bad like a virus outbreak. These can really turn the tide of war.

Anyways, I recommend this as a must get especially since you can download them both for 15$ off of steam...i think (if you don't have steam they may be like 20 all together off the website, not sure).

Some pics:

The world (notice how through the holes in the world you can see the virtual representation of the internet, which looks much like stars)

BATTLE!

I can't find a lot of pictures to really do the game justice, so just watch some youtube videos if you want to know more (my favorite mode by the way, especially since it has a map modeled after d-day...you can tell)

and i was just wondering what your thoughts are on it. do you think plastek is somewhat equivalent to todays plastic?

i personally think of it as somewhat similar, but of course its probably more durable and what not.

but yeah, just one of those little things that people probably just normally forget about, of course i had to ask about it lol :P

the latest fashion in japan

http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cke2nCp3SY

anyone in for the fashion in japan???

CoD5 vs....

okay so i wanna know which game you would choose.

Call Of Duty 5 (a.k.a. world at war)

or

Gears of War 2

See i was always a huge fan of the first GoW, but i never actually bought the game because i played the entire campaign at my cousins and didnt feel the need to buy it.

now also im a HUGE CoD4 fan, i mean its the only game i really play. BUT you see im not really a big fan of old school war.

i dont really like world war 2 era stuff, i mean sure it was historic, but i just dont like it as much as modern.

so does CoD5 gameplay make up for the fact that its based back in the day? or am i better off going with Gears 2?

eventually ill prolly get both, but i have the money for one or the other atm and i wanted opinions

Paints other than GW's paints

Ok as some of you heard, my order containing chaos black and bestial brown (with alot of other stuff) is incredibly late and still has not come for ages (over 2 months, suppose to come in 10 days) and i havnrt painted since cuz I dont have black or bestial brown and I need thsoe paints to paint anything!
Its really started to piss me off because I havnt painted in ages and really want to. So is there any equally good paints to games workshop, that you can buy in your local art shop that are as good as them two paints and hav the same shade?

New Xbox Experience

Hey, just wondering if anyone else got this update. I hate to be the pessimist but I personally think its terrible. It's gone from a pretty well organized menu to what seems to be an unorganized jumble (atleast to me). I think it kinda resembles the ps3 menu, which I'm not a fan of. The create an avatar is ok, but nothing special. I wish there was a way to unupdate...of course i still need to give it some time to get used to it before I make a final judgement, but these are my opinions so far. What are you're guys's thoughts?

GW websites to all follow the American site's design.

As some may have already noticed, American pattern of website is now the standard pattern.

Well at least it is now for the UK site.

I know some people like this setup, but I'm not one of them.
My experience of the American site leaves me thinking that this new site design is all style and no substance!
